Sculptural Installation „Besser der Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach“ [“Better the Sparrow in the Hand than the Pigeon on the Roof“], Essen

From 15. March 2025, the sculptural installation „Besser der Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach" ["Better The Sparrow In The Hand Than A Pigeon On The Roof"], starts at Grugapark in Essen in cooperation with Obrist Gallery.

The sparrow is one of the best-known and most widespread songbirds and can be seen almost everywhere, with the exception of a few areas.

For the first time, Ottmar Hörl dedicates an installation to the city of Essen. Just in time for Sparrow Day on 20. March, 200 golden sparrows adorn the glass pavilion in Grugapark in Essen.

The sculptural installation can be seen in the pavilion until 12. April 2025 and is visible from outside all day during the Grugapark's opening hours.

The sculptures are currently for sale on the Obrist Gallery website. They will be dispatched as soon as the installation is finished.
