Ottmar Hörl’s Rückert busts will be on view at Kunstverein Coburg art society until 17 April 2017 in his DER WELTPOET - FRIEDRICH RÜCKERT [The World Poet – Friedrich Rückert] exhibition.
Ottmar Hörl developed the busts to mark the opening of the Rückert year. In Schweinfurt, Hörl showed an installation in front of the local Rückert monument as well as at Kunsthalle Schweinfurt exhibition hall featuring large metal bowls in which were placed hundreds of Rückert busts in the summer of 2016. This concept mirrors Rückert’s humble attitude, as he was quite reluctant as far as personal honours were concerned, and did not wish to have a monument erected in his memory.
“In the land of poets and thinkers, Rückert must not be forgotten. Actually, such an inspirational, cosmopolitan, intercultural ‘household spirit’ should grace every home”, is Ottmar Hörl’s tongue-in-cheek way of putting it. Rückert for everyone!
