Blindeninstitut am Dachsberg: Weltanschauer-Installation bis 31. Juli 2017

Open-Air Konzerte und Ausstellungen auf dem weitläufigen Gelände des Blindeninstituts haben eine lange Tradition und sind immer auch ein Höhepunkt in der Veranstaltungsreihe Kunst & Kultur am Dachsberg. School for the Blind on Dachsberg: Installation featuring Worldview Models, on show until 31 July 2017

There is a long tradition of open-air concerts and exhibitions held in the spacious grounds of the school for the blind, with the series of events organised under the heading of Kunst & Kultur [Art & Culture] representing one of its highlights. Ottmar Hörl accompanies this year's season with an installation of his Worldview Models, which will be on show until the end of July. > more

„Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage“ – Prof. Ottmar Hörl übernimmt Patenschaft für die private Fachoberschule Mesale in Nürnberg

Die private Fachoberschule Mesale in Nürnberg hat das Prädikat „Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage“ erhalten. Im Beisein des Paten Ottmar Hörl wurde das Schild sowie eine Urkunde über die Teilnahme am Bundesprojekt „Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage“ (SOR-SMC) am 19. Juni 2017 entgegengenommen. > more

The Nuremberg Madonna: Preview for an installation to be set up in Nuremberg's Kornmarkt square in collaboration with the Germanisches Nationalmuseum from 1 September to 17 September 2017

In early September, Ottmar Hörl is set to realise an installation featuring some 600 golden Nuremberg Madonnas. The multiples that pay respectful tribute to the original will be turning Kornmarkt square into a temporary art location. Minister of State Dr Markus Söder has agreed to act as patron for the project. > more

German Monument Protection Authority prevents erection of multicultural "Hörl Family" close to monument by Nazi artist

Rüsselsheim's urban space has seven "Family Get-together" sculpture groups, which have long since become models of identification and are known as "Hörl Families" in Rüsselsheim. On the occasion of the 2017 Hessentag, housing company Gewobau intended to have an eighth work of art, this time featuring figures in different colours, set up to complement the seven existing groups, and symbolising open-mindedness and cultural diversity. The group was to be positioned in the square outside the railway station, in the vicinity of automaker Opel's historic factory façade and a monument to Adam Opel. On the grounds that it was "non-tolerable", the Rüsselsheim Lower Monument Protection Authority rejected the application on 25 April 2017. The report stipulated, for instance, that new projects were "to pay due respect to the values epitomised by the historic cultural monument". The authority claimed vicinity protection. > more
