30 years Sponti – New edition with the “Velvet Sponti”

The Sponti gets a special look for its 30th birthday. In its new, velvety look, it attracts everyone's attention and impresses with its elegant appearance.

In 1994, the conceptual artist Ottmar Hörl started a new campaign and set up 1000 garden gnomes in public spaces in Seligenstadt without any prior announcement. The monochrome blue "Sponti gnomes" populated bus stops, smiled from staircases and settled on the baroque balustrades of the monastery garden.

On the occasion of the international art fair in Amsterdam in 2006, Ottmar Hörl developed today's sculpture of the Sponti gnome, which has been provocative with a wink since then. It can be found in the most diverse private rooms all over the world from then on.

The Sponti celebrates its milestone birthday in 2024 and is now dressed in red velvet.
