"Gottlieb Daimler opened up a broader view of the world through mobility and speed. He changed the lives of humankind permanently. His pioneering spirit continues to inspire and influence us to this day," explains Ottmar Hörl.
With a temporary art installation of 500 respectfully designed Daimler statues in Schorndorf Castle Park, the city of Schorndorf commemorated its most famous son during the 2019 Garden Show year. At the same time, it commissioned four one-meter-high portrait heads of Daimler to be made, with the aim of increasing Daimler's visibility in the city. The heads were cast in aluminum and mounted on concrete bases; two are painted iron gray and two are painted steel blue. Today, they can be seen in front of Daimler's birthplace, in the entrance hall of the town hall, and in the palace gardens. A portrait bust was presented to the French twin town of Tulle as a sign of friendship.
