Newsletter October 2026

Dear art lovers,

Art can be found everywhere. Sometimes in a museum, sometimes right in the middle of the city, and sometimes it is so large that you can see it from afar and simply cannot miss it. Discover current projects and new works by Ottmar Hörl

AN XXL VICTORY WELCOMES THE WORLD

Since 22 April 2026, a very special ambassador welcomes travellers at Frankfurt Airport's new Terminal 3: Ottmar Hörl's 2.80-metre-tall XXL 'Victory' sculpture greets passengers from all over the world with its characteristic gesture.

As a symbol of peaceful and respectful coexistence, the 'Victory' now stands in a location where people from a wide variety of countries come together, adding a special artistic touch.

ADENAUER FOR EVERYONE

On 23 May 2026, the Kirchplatz in Bad Honnef is going to be transformed into an extraordinary sculptural landscape: to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ottmar Hörl is presenting his installation featuring sculptures of Adenauer in matt gold and ultramarine blue.

The politician, European and citizen will not be encountered by visitors on a plinth, but right in the heart of the public space - in multiple forms, directly and at eye level. An installation exploring memory, democracy and the question of which values still provide guidance today.

TWO PEOPLE. ONE DESTINY. A REUNION.

In 1864, Sisi was staying in Bad Kissingen for a health treatment and met her great-cousin Ludwig II there. 162 years later, they return - as a multiple of sculptures by Ottmar Hörl.

From 16 June 2026 to 5 July 2026, the two will meet in the spa gardens in front of the Arcade building - not as otherworldly icons - but as people with a history, expectations and inner contradictions. An installation about two personalities who continue to fascinate to this day - and about the question of who actually emerges from behind the public image.

DAS GROSSE HASENSTÜCK (DÜRER HARE XXXL)

Ottmar Hörl's 'Das große Hasenstück' has been a spectacular eye-catcher on the Soravia Wing of the ALBERTINA in Vienna since 1 July 2026. Measuring 2.5 metres high and 3.7 metres long, Ottmar Hörl's monumental sculpture references Albrecht Dürer's famous 'Hare', which is part of the ALBERTINA's collection and is being displayed again in its original form to mark the anniversary.

For the second time since 2014, an XXL hare by Ottmar Hörl has taken pride of place in front of the museum - and to mark the ALBERTINA's 250th anniversary, it is larger than ever.

'Das große Hasenstück' is public art as it should be: visible, eye-catching, surprising and, with a touch of humour.

MOZART IS BACK

Hundreds of golden Mozarts are taking Salzburg by storm. To mark the 270th anniversary of the genius's birth, Ottmar Hörl brings Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart back to where it all began: his native city.

From 15 July 2026 to 30 August 2026, we shall encounter the composer in the Mirabell Gardens, Mozart's birthplace and other historic Mozart sites - not as a statue on a plinth, but as a human being – determined, brilliant and indomitable.

To mark its 40th anniversary, the Schweinfurt Art Association is presenting "BestOf40", a comprehensive anniversary exhibition featuring selected works from four decades. Across an area of around 400 square metres, a variety of artistic perspectives come together - among them works by Ottmar Hörl.

A special moment: at the opening on 19 July 2026, 40 ravens by Ottmar Hörl - this time in the distinctive shade of 'Schweinfurt Green' - find a new home with art lovers.
